Diocesan Entities Endowments

This diocesan endowment provides support for vulnerable groups, including youth and the elderly.

Ann Kiesel established this endowment to provide financial support for an anonymous scholarship for an elementary school child with financial needs.

This endowment was established by the Arline Otto Estate. The purpose of this endowment is to beniefit the Diocese of Salt Lake City Youth Ministry for Catholic Children and Teens. 

This endowment was established by The Most Reverend William K. Weigand to provide annual support for the educational needs of Salt Lake City's west side.

This temporarily restricted endowment was established to provide assistance to deacons or their families in times of serious financial difficulty arising from illness, unemployment or other unforeseen circumstances. This is also intended to assist priests in circumstances of long-term disability or emergency.

This endowment provides monies directed at the discretion of the diocesan bishop.

Bruce and Rosemary Baron established this endowment to provide financial support equally for the education of seminarians and Saint Ambrose Catholic Church.

Carmen and Norma Mancuso established this endowment to equally benefit Seminarians and the Cathedral of the Madeleine.

The Most Reverend George Niederauer created this endowment to subsidize salaries in Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. The endowment encourages the payment of fair and just salaries to educators working in Catholic Schools while minimizing tuition increases.

This temporarily restricted endowment was established in 1999 to provide scholarships for Catholic school leadership training, awards for outstanding educators and leadership assistance to schools.

This endowment was established to provide financial support for emergency project needs.

The Most Reverend George Niederauer established this temporarily restricted endowment to provide scholarships for students attending diocesan Catholic schools.

Jerry and Dorothy Kaffer established this endowment to provide financial support for Diocesan retired priests of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City.

Mary Anderson established this endowment to provide financial support for seminarian education.

Irene C. Sweeney established this endowment in 2001 in memory of Charlie Fratto. Irene encourages donations from all who were inspired by Charlie’s wonderful sense of stewardship. The income supports seminarian and priestly formation.

This endowment was established by Chester and Kay Fassio to benefit ministries directed at the discretion of the diocesan bishop.

Established by The Columbian Society to provide an annual source of income for the Columbian Society to provide multiple gifts for multiple Catholic purposes: Columbian Society Scholarship, Madeleine Choir School Travel Fund, Ulster Project, Seminarians (Deacon Drew and Sandy Petersen), Carmel of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Monastery (Carmelites in Holladay, Utah), Cathedral of the Madeleine Bishop's Dinner, and Emergency Fund Columbian Society.

The purpose of this endowment is to provide a source of income for Diocesan Youth Ministry.

This endowment was established by the Diocese of Salt Lake City to provide funding for the needs of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City at the discretion of the Bishop.

The purpose of the endowment is to provide a source of income to inspire parishes in the Diocese of Salt Lake City to begin an endowment of their choice. It is hoped that this will inspire additional donors to contribute to the endowment allowing all of the Utah parishes to participate and receive $1,000 in seed money for an endowment. The donor contributes $1,000 and the parish contributes $4,000 simultaneously.  The first ten parishes to request funding and establish an endowment will be the recipients of the initial endowment.

Emery M. and Antoinette “Toni” Carter established this endowment through their trusts to provide financial support for education of the poor in our Catholic schools.

John F. and Florence M. Wilson established this endowment to provide financial support to encourage vocations within the Diocese of Salt Lake City.

Josephine Divver established this endowment to provide support equally for the Utah Rural Mission Churches and Catholic Community Services.

This endowment was established by Joyce Sickler Cosentino. The purpose of the endowment is to provide an annual source of income for seminarians, priests and vocations that will benefit Saint George Catholic Church and southern Utah.

The Scholte Family Foundation created this endowment to support seminarians for priestly vocations at the discretion of the diocesan bishop.

Louise Cairo Best, the first teacher of Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic School, established this endowment to provide support at the discretion of the Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the following needs: annual funding for continuing academic or religious education and teacher training including early childhood teachers, annual grant funding submitted by teachers to provide funds for out of state workshops, special learning projects and/or special supplies for a classroom in need, annual funding to assist teachers who would like to be trained as future leaders/administrators in the diocese.

Established in 2003, the McKenna Family Endowments were made possible by generous gifts from Bernadette Hayes in memory of her mother and father: Dennis James and Elizabeth V. O’Connor; sister: Mary; and brothers: Dennis, James, John, Dan, and Bill.

Stephen and Jennifer McNamara created this endowment in 2000 to support Catholic and other charities in Utah.

Initiated by members of the Meagher family, this endowment is offered in loving memory of Nick Meagher of Vernal, Utah. The permanently restricted endowment provides financial support for the ministries, programs, and services of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City.

This endowment was established by Pam and Fred Strasser to provide scholarships for tuition to children / students in need who are currently attending or desire to attend any Catholic school in the Diocese of Salt Lake City. The preference for the scholarships are for elementary students (75%) with the remainder (25%) available to middle or high school students.

This permanently restricted endowment was established in 2001 by Larry and Diane Cochran to provide annual income for Catholic charities and special education programs in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.

The Scholte Family Foundation established this endowment to support Catholic and public charities in Utah.

This endowment was established to provide retirement support for clergy.

Created in 2003 by an anonymous donor, this provides matching scholarship gifts for students attending Utah Catholic Schools from families recently immigrated to the United States.

This endowment was established to provide a source of income for rural church development and ministries in the state of Utah.

Rev. Msgr. J. Terrence Fitzgerald established this endowment in 2002 in memory of his parents, Joseph and Margaret, to provide financial support for the works of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City.

This endowment was established by Monsignor Bircumshaw and his sister, Anastasia T. Bircumshaw to provide an annual source of income to or for the works of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake City.

This endowment was established by the estate of Reverend Monsignor Matthew O. Wixted to provide an annual source of income for seminarian education.

Robert and Jo Ann Majka created this endowment in 2003 to provide for future needs of Catholic programs, ministries and services in the Diocese of Salt Lake City.

Roman Catholic Bishop Ministries - This endowment was established in 1992 to provide for ministries and organizations espousing teachings and doctrine compatible with the Roman Catholic Church. The initial income beneficiary is Saint Joseph Catholic High School. Holy Family Catholic Church – to provide financial support for the capital campaign at Holy Family Church. The Roman Catholic Bishop – to provide financial support for the Roman Catholic Bishop with interest earned distributed to Saint Joseph Catholic High School. Saint Joseph Catholic High School – this temporarily restricted endowment provides monies for capital improvements at Saint Joseph Catholic High School.

This endowment was established in 1994 by family members in memory of Ryan Jay Fratto. Proceeds are distributed by the diocesan bishop.

Established by Teresa Schumacher in 1998. Endowment proceeds are directed by the diocesan bishop.

The first endowment was established by John Price and the late Peggy Meagher Price. Proceeds are distributed by the diocesan bishop. Two additional endowments were established in 2011 to benefit Catholic Community Services and Judge Memorial Catholic High School.
